Virtues

Yes, the journey across the US will encounter some bumps in the road. That is why it is good to review the values and virtues that keep us centered so we don’t get off-balance. Stay on the road to a clean energy future !

Trustworthy - I am glad that we have a team we can count on, from Jerry as our trustworthy lead vehicle, who may have to come to the rescue, to Jo who did a great job on all the mechanical and electrical stuff, to Rex the Pup, who we can count on to be a hit with all the people !

Loyal - We count on our supporters being loyal to us through thick and thin. If we have set backs, we want them to still be rootin’ for us. We are loyal to our cause.

Helpful - Is this sounding like the Boy Scout Law? Well, it is. Once a Boy Scout, always…We are trying to help the earth and all the people of the world with our efforts to promote pollution prevention, less destruction of the earth and less addiction to oil.

Friendly - Yes, we can be friendly to all people we meet, including those that are into gas vehicles. We realize that they are our allies of the future, once they become convinced.

Courteous - We intend to be courteous to other drivers, homeowners who offer us lodging, food and swimming pools! Clean up after ourselves. Good manners win friends.

Kind - This is a lot like Courteous, but more, we will be more than polite. We will be kind to those less fortunate, who broke down along the way. We will go out of our way to appreciate other points of view, and not lord it over others who may hold another opinion. Being kind to the earth is one of our main points. Don’t pollute. Pick up trash. Don’t be a litterbug !

Obedient - We need to obey the rules of the house, wherever we stay, obey the rules of the road wherever we travel, and obey the laws of physics. No going faster than the speed of light ! Yike.

Cheerful - In spite of all the rough spots in the road, we will keep smiling and be courteous, even to those that are grumpy back at us, or ignore our press releases. We will fill them with the joy of our journey.

Thrifty - Yes, we can do this on the limited amount of money we have. Pinch those pennies. Let someone else stimulate the economy with their consumer purchases. We are buying the least amount of gasoline, and food, and lodging, that we can. Frugal are us !

Brave - Jerry has shown his bravery when he was jumped by some thugs in Florida and escaped with a few stitches, not too long ago. But we also brave the elements. We are brave to risk our necks this way and we will not show fear going down steep mountain passes.

Clean - hey, watch it. I will wash out my shirts and socks often, if not every day. Trousers, well, not so much. And we will have a solar hot water shower to demonstrate, so we can clean our bodies…everywhere except places that should be kept out of public view. Swim suit required!

Reverent - We don’t have to be religious to be reverent and respectful of all the goodness in our world.

That’s it for the Boy Scout Law. Now here are some more.

Persistent - Don’t give up. Keep on keepin’ on. Never surrender. Don’t get tired. We know nothing of fatigue. Stick-to-it-iveness is one of our many mottoes.

Hopeful - Yes, we can make it across the US twice and meet lots of great people along the way. Won’t you be one of them? Visit our Donate or Volunteer buttons.

Hard-working - We persevere. Through thick and thin. Grunt!

Curious - We are eager to learn new things and find out what you are up to, or thinking. Don’t be any more curious than you are already, Jerry!

Savvy - We are technically savvy, especially Chip, our webmaster.

Solar-powered - Just like Rex, our solar-powered puppy, we only eat things that are grown by the power of the sun, like grains, nuts, veggies, fruits, and things that eat these things, like chicken!

Remember Zorro - His virtues were/are Justice, Honor, Dignity, Courage and Respect. We’re for all that. Is there a difference between Bravery and Courage? Courtesy and Respect?

Values - In 2008-09, and even earlier, we saw how our national and world economy can be driven into the ditch [you like the vehicle connection?] by Greed and Corruption. It is time to return to time-honored values.
