Today, [Date], 2009, a solar-powered electric three-wheeled motorcycle visited Anytown, State of Hysteria, and met with the [Mayor's office] as part of the FunRunintheSun.org trip from Washington, DC to California and back on solar electric power, the first ever such journey. The SEV, solar electric vehicle, not SUV!, is accompanied by a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) with solar panels, another marvel of green engineering. There was a slide show presentation by the drivers, and their year old Dachshund miniature puppy, Tyranosaurus Rex, or T.Rex, at the [home of Sam Spade, or local library]. Charlie Garlow and Jerry Asher, drivers of the electric vehicles, also spoke at the [breakfast Rotary] club meeting and joined a parade of [bicycles, costumed children, motorcycles, electric vehicles].
"Electric drive vehicles are the wave of the future," said Jerry Asher, Sergeant Major, US Army retired, and owner of the PHEV. "They mean using American energy, electricity, not foreign oil, to power our country's vehicles, and solar energy can be used to provide that electricity, as well has other energy, heat and hot water among them, for our homes and buildings", he added. "As gas prices continue to rise, remember that the average cost of electricity in America is the equivalent of 75 cents per gallon - cheap at twice the price, compared to gasoline. We need to kick our addiction to oil. And we need to get more of our electricity from clean renewables like solar and wind power, to kick our over-reliance on carbon to Stop Global Warming", Garlow continued.
